A little about me
My name is James and I am studying GCSE photography at Chapel high school.
I live in the Peak District and regularly go camping and hill walking. My favourite types of photography are landscape and macro photography as I have a deep passion for the outdoors and nature. I am often found somewhere up a hill with my camera gear in hand!

Why did I choose photography?
The Oxford Dictionary's definition of photography is:-
'The art or practice of taking and processing photographs' (The Oxford English Dictionary)
For me, photography is used to capture moments and events in history that may never occur again.

Some examples of my own work
A good photo has to have the right composition usually using the 'rule of thirds' and with the right exposure. |
This was taken during a family holiday in Cornwall. I again used a neutral density filter to slow the shutter speed and create movement in the water. I spent a long time trying to find the best composition. I think this picture works as your eye is drawn from the bottom corner, up to the rock in the top right corner. |
This is my final shot using slow shutter speed. It was taken at Padley Gorge late one evening on the way back from a a walk. |
I have always wanted to take a picture of deer. However, I didn't realise how difficult it would be and how early I would have to wake up. This is my favourite picture and was taken in Lyme Park. It was taken in the style of Cerf Ecosse. |
I took this picture on the table in my living room. It was my first tile using a cheap LED ring flash. The flower was positioned against a black background and the ring flash attached to the front of the lens. I had to use a tripod as I was using a long shutter speed. |
What I hope to achieve?
I hope to learn a lot more about photography such as composition and exposure.
